Viezo has developed a vibration energy harvesting technology that both powers IoT devices without batteries, and automatically monitors railway tracks and rolling stock for errors and maintenance requirements.
Viezo’s energy harvesting technology converts vibrations into usable, self-sustainable electricity and provides railway infrastructure with sensors, gateways and associated forms of monitoring software that is cost-effective and safety-oriented. The solution significantly increases the lifetime of the hardware and removes the need for maintenance checks, battery changing or charging and even maintenance free for at least 12 years.
Viezo’s IoT solutions are tailored for railway operators: Powerail is a sensor placed on the axle box, and records wheelset mileage, detects flat spots on the wheels, and provides GPS-locating of wagons. Powertrack is installed on the bogie of the wagon, and identifies the exact areas in the infrastructure that needs to be checked and fixed by combining real-time vibration and GPS data.
