Problem

Fossil fuel-based electric generators are noisy, unreliable, require expensive maintenance, accelerate climate change, and use technology which is outdated. In consequence, fossil fuel-based electric generators must be replaced by sustainable alternatives.

SOLUTION

PowerUP has developed a high-quality and sustainable electric generator technology, which is quiet and safe, can be used indoors and does not need any maintenance. Their generators are based on proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells, which makes power generation efficient and environmentally friendly. To generate electricity, the generator combines hydrogen with oxygen from the surrounding air. The only byproduct of this reaction is a small amount of pure water.

KEY CUSTOMERS AND INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE

PowerUP’s solution is offered to both B2C and B2B. Their B2B customers are primarily companies which operate critical infrastructure, such as telecommunication towers, small medical clinics or surveillance stations. B2C customers are off-grid or on-grid house owners who need backup power for shorter or longer blackouts.

Team

The C-level executives in PowerUP are Ivar Kruusenberg (CEO), Marit Riis (COO), Yozo Okuyama (CTO) and Glendal Ragot (CFO). Besides the management team, is a team of specialized engineers and scientists, who are continuously working on developing the most innovative solutions on the market.

Unique selling point

PowerUP’s generators are easily transportable due to its reduced weight, and are also noise-free and-odorless.

Asia Connection

The CTO, Yozo Okuyama, was born and raised in Japan and holds a master degree in Engineering from Tohoku University. PowerUP is looking for distribution partners, clients and funding from across the East Asian region.
