Asia Connection & Vision
Tera is specifically catering towards our LPs interest to also directly invest in portfolio and dealflow companies as well as provide wider market insights to them. We have several investors in Fund II with such interest, out of total 16 most are located in New Nordics, 3 from the US (incl. Perot Jain) and 2 from Japan – Itochu and Mistletoe. This approach fits particularly well with the Japanese innovation model – by investing in our fund, on top of the financial return, they can also get insights into the innovation in our region.
Tera’s model involves propelling our startups on to a global market including Japan – Japan being Estonia’s best partner in Asia. And vice versa – our region and Estonia in particular can be a great access point to the EU market for Japanese companies.
Several notable Japanese investors have invested in Tera’s portfolio companies after us – Mistletoe, Rakuten, Global Brain, NTT Docomo, Nordic Ninja. Their aim is also to help these companies to address Japanese and Asian markets.
