Current luminescent materials are toxic, hard to dispose of, and can’t be recycled. In addition, the current materials are not able to withstand extremely high amounts of radiation without getting saturated.
Pure Luminescence manufactures and develops an environmentally friendly, recyclable, synthetic hackmanite - PureGlow - that can be optimized for X-Ray imaging and dosimetry purposes. PureGlow is a novel phosphor that responds to X-Rays by storing the energy and releasing it as visible light upon stimulation. Because Pureglow is completely synthetic, it is highly optimizable and is therefore also able to receive large amounts of radiation without saturation. PureGlow is compatible with a variety of X-Ray imaging devices, e.g. it can be used as a coating for an imaging plate, flat panel detector, or piece of film.

Pure Luminescence’s manufacturing facility is located in Finland. The technology behind PureGlow is covered by six global patent families, and therefore ready for international launch and cooperation.
Pure Luminescence is founded and operated by Founders Nellie Inkinen, Isabella Pönkkä, and Jussi Pyysalo.
Nellie has an academic background from the University of Turku, where she studied the commercialization of synthetic hackmanite. Isabella also has an academic background from the University of Turku and has since her dissertation become one of the leading hackmanite researchers in the world. Jussi brings practical knowledge to the operations team from the world of business, of which he has more than 20 years of experience within the Healthtech and pharmaceutical sectors.
